What you'll do
- Maintain the Elections Department’s GIS system
- Design, develop, customize, monitor, and analyze GIS applications
- Create and edit new and existing graphical and tabular data
- Analyze recommendations for new district and precinct lines
- Implement changes resulting from state and federal redistricting
- Interface directly with clients regarding GIS needs
What you need
- Education, Experience and Training:Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or in a job related field of study. One (1) year of work-related experience.Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Proficient with keyboarding, word processing and/or spreadsheet software. Must have the ability to develop unique correspondence and/or detailed spreadsheets, follow/provide verbal and written instructions. Strong oral and written communication/presentation skills. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with a good driving record.Physical/Environmental Requirements:Standard office environment. Ability to travel to various work site locations

This position maintains the Elections Department’s GIS system including designing, developing, customizing, monitoring, and analyzing the GIS applications that support the business needs of the department with the use of cartographic design and drafting principles as well as creating and editing new and existing graphical and tabular data, analyzing recommendations for new district and precinct lines for Dallas County, implementing changes resulting from state and federal redistricting and interfacing directly with clients regarding GIS needs.
