- Requires problem-solving and research abilities, communication skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work independently and on a team.

What You’ll Do
A typical day as an Underwriting Intern may include:
Researching and processing finance premium notices.
Entering broker submissions accurately in a fast-paced environment.
Analyzing and processing loss run requests from brokers and policyholders.
Preparing endorsements for audits and issuing them to brokers.
Reviewing and assembling documentation for underwriting files.
Completing other assigned projects to support underwriting teams.
Qualifications
A successful candidate has:
Rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree (finance, economics, business administration, or related).
Strong problem-solving and research abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
A compelling candidate also has:
Academic focus in risk management and insurance.
Training & Development

Hiring Timeline
Phone screens: November – December 2026
Interviews: January – February 2027
Offers extended after interviews
Internship: 10 weeks beginning May 24, 2027
Work hours: Onsite in Richmond, VA, Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Salary: $20 per hour
