The Admissions Specialist is a
support position responsible to the Admissions Manager. The primary responsibility
of this position is to recruit new students to the college and guide them
through the onboarding process. This includes conducting both off-campus and
on-campus visits throughout the district at both schools, hosting on-campus
events, conducting outreach, and following up on the prospective student
caseload. This position requires a significant amount of giving presentations,
phone work, and collaboration with department leadership to implement effective
recruitment strategies.
Responsibilities
Provide timely outreach and support to an assigned caseload of prospective students throughout the onboarding and enrollment process. Conduct phone, electronic, and in-person outreach; provide walk-in coverage at designated college locations; follow up with students as they complete enrollment steps; and re-engage students who have not enrolled.
In coordination with the Admissions Manager, develop and implement recruitment plans for assigned high schools and/or targeted populations. Represent the college through presentations, workshops, college and career fairs, high school visits, community activities, visit days, Open Houses, College Night, First Friday events, and other on- and off-campus recruitment opportunities.
Engage prospective students in conversations about their educational and career goals and connect those goals with appropriate college programs, services, and pathways. Guide students in using career exploration, academic planning, and other online self-service tools.
Explain college affordability resources, including financial aid, scholarships, payment plans, and the Foundation Scholarship application process, and connect students with the appropriate offices for additional assistance.
Explain course-placement requirements and available placement measures, including ACT/SAT scores, cumulative GPA, AP scores, and GED scores. Help students understand their next enrollment steps and connect them with Academic and Career Advising when they are ready to register.
Identify prospective students’ interests, concerns, and potential barriers to enrollment or success and provide appropriate referrals to college resources, including Financial Aid, the Foundation, Access Center, Athletics, Academic Support, Student Life, and other support services.
Accurately document recruitment contacts, outreach activities, and student interactions in the college’s CRM and EAB systems.
Assist with assigning or reassigning prospects as they progress through the enrollment funnel.
Maintain current knowledge of college programs, services, activities, enrollment requirements, and referral resources to provide accurate information and direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
Support departmental recruitment activities, including direct-mail and tele-counseling campaigns, Student Ambassador call lists and assignments, and Gustafson Scholarship program activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
