Service Advisor / Service Writer – McGrath DodgeLocation: Cedar Rapids, IA Schedule: Full-Time About the OpportunityMcGrath Dodge is growing our service team and looking for customer-focused Service Advisors / Service Writers to join our fast-paced service department in Cedar Rapids. As a Service Advisor, you’ll be the connection between our customers and technicians, helping customers understand their vehicle’s service needs, keeping them informed throughout the repair process, and making sure they receive an exceptional experience from start to finish. If you have experience as an Automotive Service Advisor, Service Writer, Customer Service Advisor, or in a customer-facing sales role, this could be a great opportunity to take the next step in your automotive career. What You’ll Do• Greet customers and provide a welcoming, professional experience in the service lane • Listen to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle service needs • Create, update, and manage repair orders throughout the service process • Communicate with technicians regarding vehicle concerns, inspections, and recommended repairs • Explain recommended maintenance and repairs clearly so customers can make informed decisions • Present and sell recommended services and maintenance based on vehicle needs • Provide customers with estimates and keep them updated on repair status and completion times • Coordinate vehicle workflow to help keep the service department running efficiently • Follow up with customers and help resolve questions or concerns • Build lasting customer relationships through communication, trust, and excellent service • Work closely with technicians, parts, and other dealership departments to provide a seamless customer experience Requirements• Previous Automotive Service Advisor, Service Writer, dealership, sales, or customer-facing experience preferred • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Comfortable discussing and recommending automotive services and repairs with customers • Ability to multitask and manage multiple customers and repair orders in a fast-paced environment • Strong organization, follow-through, and time management skills • Confident problem-solving skills and a customer-first mindset • Positive, professional attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team • Comfortable learning dealership software and automotive service processes • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record • Willingness to complete a pre-employment background check What We Offer• PTO starting Day 1 • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance • 401(k) with Company Match • Career growth opportunities — 97% of our promotions come from within • Opportunities to build your automotive knowledge and advance your career • Supportive, collaborative, and team-focused culture • Established dealership group with more than 70 years in Eastern Iowa Build Your Career in Automotive ServiceWhether you’re an experienced Service Advisor or Service Writer looking for your next opportunity, or you have strong customer service and sales experience and are ready to grow within the automotive industry, we want to hear from you.
