Campus Minister MINISTRY / LOCATION Tulane Catholic EMPLOYMENT STATUS Full-Time | Exempt WORK ARRANGEMENT On-Site EMPLOYER Archdiocese of New Orleans REPORTS TO Director of Tulane Catholic Position Overview Tulane Catholic is in a season of renewal. We are intentionally and energetically working to build a vibrant Catholic community for a new generation of Tulane students. The Campus Minister's work is both relational and organizational. On the relational side, the job is presence and outreach: being at Mass, meals, and events, getting to know students, and following up with those who are new or drifting. Just as important, the Campus Minister is a facilitator. Because the Director and several members of the leadership team serve Tulane Catholic part-time, the Campus Minister is the steady, full-time presence who holds the day-to-day ministry together. Working closely with the Director, the Ministry Operations Manager, our FOCUS missionaries, and student leaders, the Campus Minister keeps people and plans connected so that retreats, formation, events, and student leadership work together as one ministry. This means coordinating rather than owning every initiative: making sure the right people are talking, the calendar holds together, and nothing falls through the cracks. We are looking for someone who enjoys college students, works well on a team, has the follow-through to manage details, and wants to invest in students and their leadership over the long term. Compensation and Benefits Salary: $50,000 to $55,000 annually Full benefits package through the Archdiocese of New Orleans Opportunities for your own spiritual and professional development Full-time, exempt position Some evenings and weekends required during events, retreats, and major ministry activities Occasional overnight travel, including retreats and conferences such as SEEK Start Date January 2027 preferred, with flexibility to Summer 2027 for the right candidate Reporting Reports directly to the Director of Tulane Catholic Member of the Ministry Leadership Team Works closely with the Ministry Operations Manager and FOCUS team, coordinating with them rather than supervising them Primary staff point of contact for the Student Leadership Team Supervises the campus ministry intern, if one is hired Duties and Responsibilities Student Presence and Hospitality Be consistently present at the student center: at Mass, at meals, at events, and in ordinary moments Seek out and welcome new students, with particular attention to those on the margins of the community Help coordinate Sunday Night Supper and other hospitality moments Formation and Retreats Plan and lead formation evenings, talks, and retreats throughout the academic year Handle retreat logistics, recruit participants, and follow up with students afterward Help students connect their faith to their daily life at Tulane Student Leadership Team (SLT) Serve as the primary point of contact and formation resource for the SLT Recruit, form, and empower student leaders to take ownership of ministry activities Facilitate regular SLT meetings and help set the direction of student-led initiatives Coordination and Facilitation Serve as the main point of coordination between the Director, the FOCUS team, the Ministry Operations Manager, and student leaders Build and maintain a ministry calendar that brings FOCUS Bible studies, events, retreats, and formation into one rhythm Support FOCUS missionaries without directing or supervising them; the Director retains direct oversight Communicate proactively about scheduling, logistics, and student needs Communications Work with the Ministry Operations Manager on social media and promotion for events and programming Help tell the story of Tulane Catholic to students, alumni, and supporters Qualifications Practicing Catholic who loves the Church and believes deeply in the mission of Catholic campus ministry Bachelor's degree required; degree in theology, ministry, education, or related field preferred Experience in Catholic campus ministry, preferably with FOCUS, Christ in the City, SPO, or a similar apostolate Strong relational skills: naturally warm, energetic, and at ease with college students Ability to collaborate within a team and communicate proactively Comfortable with basic digital communications and social media Must complete the Archdiocese of New Orleans Safe Environment training and background check before beginning work You'd Be a Great Fit If You...
