Position overview: As a Junior Estimator at PJF Corp., you will play an important role throughout our estimating, bidding, and preconstruction process. You will help identify new project opportunities, coordinate subcontractor participation, organize bid documentation, maintain project information, and support the development of competitive and complete estimates. This role requires someone who is highly organized, comfortable picking up the phone and building relationships with subcontractors and vendors, and willing to take initiative to get the information needed to keep a bid moving forward. You will work closely with our estimating team while developing your knowledge of commercial construction, project scopes, pricing, and the overall estimating process. Key Responsibilities: including, but not limited to: Monitor open-market bid sites for new project opportunities, addenda, RFIs, and other important bidding updates. Maintain the Project Summary and other internal tracking systems with new leads, bid dates, project information, and current status. Maintain prequalification and RFQ materials and assist with information needed for potential project opportunities. Create and organize project files within Teams and Procore. Upload and maintain current plans, specifications, addenda, and other bidding documents. Create and distribute bid packages and invitations to appropriate subcontractors and vendors. Identify trades requiring bid coverage and proactively follow up with subcontractors to confirm participation and obtain bids. Consistently make and answer phone calls with subcontractors and vendors to discuss project opportunities, encourage bid participation, answer questions, and obtain necessary information. Maintain accurate bidding notes, subcontractor responses, and project information within Procore. Set up and organize initial bid forms and client-specific bid documents. Compile subcontractor and vendor bids and organize information for review by the estimating team. Maintain and expand the subcontractor and vendor directory, including researching new trade partners and strengthening areas where additional bid coverage is needed. Enter and maintain subcontractor and vendor information, including company information, trades, bidding contacts, and applicable cost codes. Assist with vetting new subcontractors for qualifications and reliability and maintaining accurate information regarding existing trade partners. Monitor and update unit pricing and other Sales & Estimating resources. Coordinate bid bonds, performance and payment bonds, Certificates of Insurance, and other required bid documentation. Assess bonding requirements and coordinate required information with the company’s bonding agent. Verify appropriate licenses and Certificates of Insurance prior to bid award when required. Communicate bid results to participating subcontractors and vendors. Maintain project status within Procore and internal tracking systems through the bidding and preconstruction process. Coordinate preconstruction meetings with the Estimating and Operations teams. Document and distribute preconstruction meeting agendas, minutes, and action items to applicable team members. Archive bidding records and maintain organized project documentation for future reference. Support additional estimating, bidding, preconstruction, and special projects as assigned. Advanced technological skills, including smartphones, laptops, tablets, and web-based project management systems. Proficiency with Office 365 products, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams. Problem-solving skills with the ability to take initiative, identify missing information, and follow through. Education/Experience High School diploma or GED (Required) Construction Experience: 1 year of construction, estimating, bidding, project coordination, or related experience (Preferred) License/Certification Procore certified (or a commitment to be certified within 30 days of hire) Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work in a professional office setting.
