Culture Support Student Worker (CSLP FWS)

Position Summary/Purpose: Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents’ needs. GCU maintains a partnership with Empower College Prep (ECP) located at 2411 W Colter Street Phoenix AZ 85001. ECP’s mission is to empower students to become curious learners, critical thinkers, and confident leaders prepared for college, career, and life. The CSLP student worker’s work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of ECP; however, CSLP student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall/spring). If eligible, CSLP student workers can work during summer (i.e., May – August). CSLP: This position has been reviewed and approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b). Per 34 CFR 675.2(b), community services are defined as, “Services which are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their need.” These services must be open and accessible to the community. As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents). Note: All FWS and FWS-CSLP positions require applicants to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility and awarded FWS. Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions: *High School Conduct routine campus walkthroughs and report concerns, including students outside of class without appropriate authorization. Deliver detention notices and related communications to teachers. Retrieve student cell phones from classrooms at the request of teachers. Supervise students as needed when the Culture Coordinator is conducting campus rounds, and coordinate with the Vice Principal regarding any issues that arise. Perform other duties as assigned. Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility. Must have reliable transportation. Previous Mentoring a plus. Ability to speak a second language a plus. Experience/Education: Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment: Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor’s program or master’s program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer. Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student. Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University. You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements. Pay Rate : Minimum Wage Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2027
