What you'll do
- Answer and respond to customer inquiries through phone, voicemail and email
- Navigate difficult customer conversations to find practical, policy-compliant solutions
- Assist in maintaining the Customer Information System
- Follow up on account issues, commercial applications, deposits, and delinquent accounts
- Coordinate with the Accounting department and back up team members in cashiering and billing
- Handle cash batch processing and cash entry/credit balance/adjustment items
- Educate customers on using the self – service MPU customer portal
What you need
- A minimum of a 2-year Associate Degree
- Prior experience in customer service
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- General office skills
- Ability to de-escalate difficult customer interactions while maintaining professional composure
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail and follow through abilities

Manitowoc Public Utilities is seeking a Customer Service Representative to join our team. This position is responsible for general clerical duties related to Utility Customer accounts, for interacting and communicating with Utility Customers including collection calls, answering billing questions, routing incoming calls for technical service-related problems and maintaining current customer and collection records.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
Answers and responds to customer inquiries through phone, voicemail and email.
Navigates difficult customer conversations to find practical, policy-compliant solutions
Assist in maintaining the Customer Information System including correspondence and customer information.
Follows up on account issues, commercial applications, deposits, and delinquent accounts.
Coordinates with the Accounting department and backs up team members in cashiering and billing.
Handles cash batch processing and cash entry/credit balance/adjustment items.
Educating customers on using the self – service MPU customer portal.
Sample of Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A minimum of a 2-year Associate Degree required.
Prior experience in customer service required.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with general office skills.
Ability to de-escalate difficult customer interactions while maintaining professional composure
Strong accuracy, attention to detail and follow through abilities.
On-site position. Must be available from 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday thru Friday. This schedule has the potential to change to Mon-Thurs 7am-4:30pm and Fri 7am-11am and would mean availability during the new office hours.
Starting Pay Rate: $27.16/hour
