Position Summary
KQED’s education department provides services to K-12 educators and students, including
classroom resources and professional development that help them bring media making, media literacy, and civic engagement into their classrooms. See our most recent annual report for reference. The Education marketing team actively works to increase awareness, registration, engagement and adoption of KQED’s free educational products and services including the Youth Media Challenge, KQED Teach, and live professional development events.
We are looking for an Education Marketing Intern to work with the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager and others in the education department to support online and in-person professional development workshop marketing and production, as well as to support production of our newsletters. There will also be opportunities to support review and curation of student submissions to the Youth Media Challenge and other marketing programs.

This position is a hybrid role based in San Francisco and reports to the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager, Education. Working in-person at least one day a week is a requirement.
Essential Functions:
Online workshop marketing & production support
Manage online calendar of events, e.g. publishing new events in Zoom Webinars Plus, removing past events and other updates as needed
Assist in the creation of event assets, including images, promotional copy, and marketing kits
Draft workshop follow-up communications
Report event data
In-person event support
Prepare the department's presence at industry conferences, e.g. create tabletop signage, pack exhibiting materials, write follow-up communications, etc.
Support logistics and promotion for in-person workshops at KQED
Newsletter support
Draft newsletter copy
Program and schedule emails
Other duties as assigned
Internship Qualifications:
Interest and/or experience in events, marketing, education, media literacy and/or youth voice
Strong writing and editing skills
Ability to take direction and to work independently
Self starter who is not afraid to ask questions
Ability to organize and prioritize work and complete tasks on time
Strong skills with Google suite (documents, spreadsheets, presentations)
Comfortable working in spreadsheets and organizing data
Preferred: Experience setting up webinars/events on Zoom
Preferred: Familiar with Canva and proficient with basic image editing and sizing
Able to follow KQED journalistic standards and maintain a public presence that is nonpartisan and unbiased
