About Andrenam
We’re building sonar and sensing systems that bring light to the last dark
domain: the ocean. Our team includes alumni from SpaceX, Anduril, ABL, Palantir
and Qualia. We build full-stack—from physics to perception to product—with
speed, elegance, and an unwavering commitment to the mission.
We believe the maritime domain will define the next century of economics,
geopolitics, and global security. We're here to shape it.
About this role
Andrenam is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern to join our electrical design
team and work on the same kind of hardware our engineers build every day. This
is a hands-on internship focused on troubleshooting and testing for the sensing
and autonomy systems we deploy in the ocean. This is a summer 2027 internship,
and we are also open to a spring 2027 start for the right candidate.
You won't be sitting on the sidelines. You'll take on real, scoped projects that
support our core hardware, work directly alongside the engineers who design it,
and get regular feedback and mentorship as you go. You'll get real experience
designing electronics for performance, reliability, and manufacturability in
harsh marine environments.
We're looking for students who are hungry to learn, love building things, and
want to see their work end up in the ocean.
What you’ll do
Test and Troubleshooting:
* Bring up, test, and debug boards and assemblies, including performance and
reliability testing.
* Diagnose hardware failures and work with the team to identify root cause and
verify fixes.
* Support integration of hardware with software and take part in system-level
troubleshooting.
* Help develop and run test procedures that make our hardware more reliable in
the field.
Hardware Support:
* Support hardware projects tied to our core boards and systems, with guidance
from the design team.
* Read and work from schematics and layouts to trace issues and suggest
improvements.
Collaboration and Growth:
* Work closely with our electrical engineers, taking feedback and iterating
quickly.
* Share progress clearly and ask questions early.
* Document test procedures, results, and fixes so the team can build on your
work after your internship.
Location
Work full-time onsite from our Torrance, CA office
Qualifications
* Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in electrical engineering,
computer engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
* Hands-on hardware experience through coursework, personal projects, or
student engineering teams, with at least one project you can walk through in
detail.
* Comfortable with lab tools like oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers,
and soldering irons.
* Exposure to PCB design, hardware troubleshooting, or CAD.
* Strong problem-solving instincts and a willingness to dig into unfamiliar
problems.
* Clear communication and a track record of working well with others.
Nice to have
* Experience designing simple circuits or PCBs in tools like KiCad or Altium,
through personal, academic, or internship projects.
* Familiarity with microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, ESP32) or communication
protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN).
* Experience on a student engineering team such as underwater robotics, SAE, or
similar design-build competitions.
* Interest in maritime systems, autonomy, or defense technology.
Why join us?
Andrenam is an innovative, mission-driven company at the intersection of
maritime autonomy and defense. We offer:
