Founded in 1936, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory is a federally funded research and development center managed for NASA by the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
For nearly nine decades, JPL has helped define the frontier of exploration. The laboratory developed America's first Earth-orbiting science satellite, built the first successful interplanetary spacecraft, and pioneered robotic exploration across the solar system. These achievements helped establish U.S. leadership in space and laid the foundation for generations of scientific discovery.
Today, on behalf of NASA and the nation, JPL advances science and innovation through robotic missions that explore Earth, the solar system, and the universe. Our engineers, scientists, technologists, and mission teams continue to push the boundaries of exploration while addressing scientific and technical challenges of national significance.

Job Details
New ideas are all around us, but only a few will change the world. That’s our focus at JPL. We ask the biggest questions, then search the universe for answers—literally. We build upon ideas that have guided generations, then share our discoveries to inspire generations to come. Your mission—your opportunity—is to seek out the answers that bring us one step closer. If you’re driven to discover, create, and inspire something that lasts a lifetime and beyond, you’re ready for JPL.
Located in Pasadena, California, JPL has a campus-like environment situated on 177 acres in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and offers a work environment unlike any other: we inspire passion, foster innovation, build collaboration, and reward excellence.
Responsibilities:
JPL is seeking an extraordinary Electronics Engineer I to join the Advanced Electronics Systems and Technologies group to help accelerate the frontier of space electronics. In this role, you will work across JPL’s instrument, avionics, and power electronics disciplines to develop novel technologies and systems that accelerate the robotic exploration of space. Working within a multi-disciplinary team of systems engineers, electronics designers, embedded developers, and ASIC designers, your daily job will be to dream of and implement electronics technologies for future missions.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
Own technical development of electronics, including specification, architecture, simulation, PCB design, laboratory testing, and mission infusion
Design analog, digital, and power electronics circuits for space and terrestrial robotics
Identify candidate technologies, design test fixtures, and support heavy ion testing to evaluate new parts for radiation effects
Collaborate with JPLers across disciplines to integrate your designs into complex robotic missions and instrument systems
Dream up and propose new projects to solve the hardest problems in space and on earth
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, robotics engineering, or similar technical discipline with 1 year of related work experience in electronics development in a professional, student project, or internship environment; Master’s degree in a similar discipline with 0 years of related work experience.
Hands-on experience in hardware prototyping of analog, digital, or power electronics
Proficiency in an electronics lab environment, including specification, modelling, simulation, and testing of electronic systems
Creative ideas for future electronics and the ability to communicate deeply technical ideas to non-experts
Preferred Skills:
Demonstrated ability to lead new hardware projects from concept to realization
An intense curiosity to understand new techniques and work with experts across the science and engineering disciplines to create new technologies
Deep understanding of analog, digital, or power electronics including modelling, analysis, and test of component stress, worst-case performance, and radiation effects
Demonstrated ability to propose new electronics projects and win funding to execute them
Experience with hardware design tools including simulation (LTSpice, PLECS, or similar) and printed circuit board design (Altium, KiCad, or similar)
Experience with single board computer design and software development
Experience with hardware design tools for FPGA design and programming
Familiarity or experience with AI or ML tools for design, modelling, analysis, or test automation
