DynaChrg develops intelligent EV charging and energy-management technology for charge point operators, property owners, fleets, utilities, and public-sector customers. Our EVES™ platform enables multi-vendor charger management, real-time monitoring, charging transactions, remote operations, energy optimization, dynamic charging control, and grid-aware services across commercial EV charging deployments. We operate a dedicated EV charging interoperability and testing lab to evaluate, integrate, validate, and support AC Level 2 and DC fast-charging equipment from multiple manufacturers. Position Summary DynaChrg is seeking a motivated EV Charging Systems QA & Test Engineer with a background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field to join our EV charging engineering team. This is an entry-level engineering position focused on quality assurance, hardware/software testing, system validation, troubleshooting, and interoperability testing of commercial EV charging equipment and DynaChrg's EVES™ charging management platform. The engineer will work closely with senior and principal engineers, software development teams, electrical engineers, and QA teams to test and validate EV charging systems, including charger hardware, firmware, networking, communication protocols, and backend software. Prior EV charging industry experience is not required. We are looking for candidates with strong engineering fundamentals, analytical problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and an interest in learning EV charging technologies, OCPP, and connected hardware/software systems. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on laboratory work, investigating technical issues, building and executing test cases, and understanding how complex systems communicate and operate. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1. Quality Assurance & System Testing Perform manual and automated testing to verify system functionality, reliability, and interoperability. Develop, maintain, and execute functional, integration, regression, and system-level test cases for EV charging hardware and software. Identify, reproduce, document, and track hardware, firmware, communication, and software defects through resolution. Analyze test results, system logs, error messages, and device behavior to identify root causes and support troubleshooting. Collaborate with software developers and onshore/offshore QA teams to validate bug fixes, new features, and system releases. Support the development of test scripts, test procedures, and QA automation using tools such as Python, Postman, and other applicable testing frameworks. 2. EVSE Hardware, Software & Interoperability Assist senior engineers with onboarding, configuration, integration, and validation of commercial AC Level 2 and DC fast chargers from multiple manufacturers. Test charger connectivity and communication with DynaChrg's EVES™ Charging Station Management System (CSMS). Learn and perform OCPP 1.6 and OCPP 2.0.1 protocol testing, including charger registration, status notifications, transactions, remote commands, configuration, firmware management, and meter values. Capture, review, and troubleshoot OCPP messages, JSON payloads, network traffic, and communication logs. Support testing of charging session authorization, RFID, remote start/stop, transaction processing, metering, and fault recovery. Gain exposure to other EV charging technologies and protocols, including OCPI and ISO 15118, as applicable. 3. Electrical, Hardware & Laboratory Testing Assist with laboratory setup, configuration, commissioning, and testing of EV charging equipment and associated hardware. Perform supervised electrical and electronic measurements using appropriate laboratory instruments and approved safety procedures. Support firmware installation, software updates, device configuration, network setup, and troubleshooting. Investigate charger communication, connectivity, performance, and hardware/software interaction issues. Assist with testing of charging behavior, power limits, load management, charging profiles, and energy-management functionality. Maintain laboratory equipment, test configurations, technical records, and documented testing procedures. 4. System Integration, Field Support & Collaboration Support senior engineering staff during charger integration, system validation, and customer deployments. Assist with on-site charger commissioning, connectivity verification, testing, and troubleshooting when required. Work with the EVES development team to understand backend functions and translate technical requirements into test scenarios. Coordinate with offshore QA teams to reproduce issues, review test results, and support validation of new features and fixes. Prepare clear test reports, defect documentation, technical findings, and validation records. Participate in technical investigations and continuous improvement of QA processes, test coverage, and engineering workflows. Be willing and able to travel and drive to customer locations, charging sites, and partner facilities as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. 0-3 Years of Experience relevant experience, including internships, academic projects, laboratory experience, or professional engineering/QA work.
