The Role Develop working knowledge of the Accounting and Finance Manual and the current edition of the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI). Assist with daily, monthly, and other periodic accounting and financial reporting in an accurate and timely manner. Assist with month-end journal entries, supporting schedules, and balance sheet account reconciliations. Prepare organized supporting documentation and workpapers for balance sheet and profit-and-loss analysis, internal controls, and audit requirements. Learn and support accounts receivable activities, including responding professionally to guest and internal inquiries. Learn and assist with daily income audit reports, reconciliations, and related analysis. Participate in physical inventory counts and support the accuracy of quantities, pricing, and valuation. Rotate through Finance functions to understand departmental processes and interdependencies. Work with the Purchasing team to understand the procure-to-pay cycle and its impact on financial reporting and controls. Develop a working knowledge of Finance operations over the six-month internship period, where applicable. Follow applicable local and corporate policies, procedures, internal controls, and record-retention requirements. Perform additional duties assigned by the Director of Finance or Assistant Director of Finance.
