And so much more.​      ​ Come break through with us.  Role Purpose The intern will support engineering projects focused on polymer materials, adhesives, coatings, and related manufacturing processes. The intern will work with engineers and scientists to develop material understanding through laboratory testing and data analysis. Activities may include preparing samples, conducting experiments, evaluating material properties, and supporting technical problem-solving efforts. In addition to laboratory work, the intern will be responsible for analyzing experimental data, comparing results with technical literature, documenting findings, and presenting project results to the team.   Program Perks: Competitive salaries Assistance with housing and travel Meaningful project and final project presentation Intern Activities: Social and networking opportunities Weekly tech talks Community involvement  Key Responsibilities Support laboratory investigations involving polymer materials, adhesives, coatings, and manufacturing materials Prepare samples and conduct material characterization testing Assist with experimental planning, execution, and data collection Analyze experimental results and identify trends Develop a fundamental understanding of material structure-property relationships Collaborate with engineers and technicians to solve technical problems Document findings through technical reports and presentations Communicate project progress and recommendations to the project team Experiences/Education - Required Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline Minimum of two years completed toward degree Available for a 10-12 week summer internship Interested in applying materials science and engineering principles to real-world manufacturing and product development challenges Willing to work at the posted job location Required Skills Strong interest in materials science and polymer engineering Basic laboratory and experimental practices Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools Strong written and verbal communication skills Desired Skills Coursework in polymer science, materials science, chemistry, or related subjects Experience working in a laboratory environment Familiarity with basic material characterization techniques Knowledge of statistics and experimental design Desire to learn new technologies and processes quickly Soft Skills Self-motivated and eager to learn Ability to work effectively in a team environment Strong attention to detail Curious, creative, and willing to take initiative Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities Typical Projects May Include Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities Material characterization and property evaluation Polymer formulation or process optimization studies Adhesive and coating testing Development of laboratory methods and testing procedures Analysis of manufacturing-related material issues Data analysis and technical reporting   This position does not support immigration sponsorship.     ​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.   A job that shapes a life.     We prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, veteran status or any other legally protected status.   Corning is committed to providing equal employment opportunities and considers requests for reasonable accommodations in accordance with applicable laws.
