This 12-week paid internship offers a deep dive into the world of Technology. You will:  * Participate as an active member of the software engineering team, contributing to project and operational work * Develop, test, troubleshoot, and document software solutions with guidance from experienced engineers * Take ownership of assigned development tasks and follow them through completion * Work with domain experts (engineers and scientists) across the CAT E&A team to enhance our use of available data * Participate in the team's normal development processes, discussions, and meetings * Investigate technical problems and develop thoughtful solutions using available tools and resources * Manage assigned work and priorities while maintaining strong attention to quality and accuracy * Communicate progress, questions, challenges, and blockers with the team You will be part of a dynamic and supportive Technology team that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Your work will directly contribute to delivering on our commitment to excellence.   What you will learn:   * Real-world troubleshooting experience * How catastrophe models support underwriting and the insurance lifecycle  * How enterprise software is built, deployed, and supported in production  * How to troubleshoot real systems used by real people  * Catastrophe modeling applications and how they support the insurance lifecycle and our customers * A clearer idea of Technology career paths at BHSI   Qualifications:   * College concentration in one of the STEM disciplines or prior experience and demonstrated passion in an Information Technology role * Proven coding, analytical and problem-solving skills as normally acquired through the pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine learning, or a related field.  * Effective written and verbal communication skills  * Ability to manage multiple priorities and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment  * Experience with Git, Python, SQL and Docker  * Familiarity with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure)  * Experience with databases, data processing, and data pipelines  * Knowledge of machine learning and experience with geospatial data  * All candidates must have permanent work authorization in the United States  * Ability to manage multiple priorities and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment  * Strong focus, attention to detail and accuracy  * Exposure to or experience with AI-assisted development tools and an interest in applying AI effectively within the software development lifecycle is a plus    Attributes & Values:   * Strategic thinking and critical analysis  * Strong organizational and time management skills * Customer-focused mindset * Embodies respect and integrity * Passion for excellence and continuous improvement   Pay Transparency:   The base pay rate for this position in San Ramon is $33/hour.
