VMG is seeking a motivated Project Engineer Intern to work alongside our Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and field teams. This internship provides hands-on exposure to commercial HVAC and plumbing projects while developing valuable skills in project coordination, construction management, and mechanical systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate interested in building a career in construction management, engineering, or the mechanical construction industry. Key Responsibilities Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination. Support Project Managers and Project Engineers with day-to-day project activities. Gain exposure to HVAC and plumbing drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and project documentation. Help track project progress, schedules, and action items. Coordinate with project teams, field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors as needed. Participate in project meetings and site visits. Assist with maintaining organized and accurate project records. Support project closeout activities, including punch lists and turnover documentation. Learn VMG's project management processes, safety standards, and quality requirements. Requirements Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. Interest in commercial construction, HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems. Basic ability to read or willingness to learn construction drawings and specifications. Strong organizational and time management skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Willingness to learn, ask questions, take initiative, and gain hands-on industry experience. Previous construction experience is a plus but not required. Location This is an in-office internship based at VMG's headquarters in Reston, VA, with opportunities to visit project sites throughout the DMV area. Compensation & Internship Experience Pay: $25.00 per hour This paid internship is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience within the mechanical construction industry.
