What you'll do
- The Junior Electrical Estimator supports the estimating department by performing material quantity takeoffs and preparing accurate, competitive bids for electrical projects.
- They are responsible for coordinating with vendors, organizing bid documentation, and ensuring all project scopes are clearly defined and priced.
What you need
- Candidates must have 1–3 years of experience in electrical construction or estimating and possess the ability to read electrical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in Excel and a strong understanding of commercial electrical systems and the NEC are required for this role.

Position Overview
The Junior Electrical Estimator supports the estimating department in preparing accurate, competitive bids for electrical construction projects. Working under the guidance of experienced estimators and company leadership, this role focuses exclusively on takeoffs, pricing, bid preparation and estimating documentation, with opportunities to develop independent estimating skills.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Bid Preparation
Review electrical drawings, specifications and bid documents to understand project scope.
Perform material quantity takeoffs and assist with labor, equipment and subcontractor cost estimates.
Use estimating software and spreadsheets to organize quantities and pricing.
Flag missing information, drawing conflicts and scope discrepancies for review.
Assist with bid proposals, clarifications, exclusions and on-time submissions.
Vendor & Supplier Coordination
Request pricing and quotations from electrical suppliers and vendors.
Compare quotations for price, scope completeness and specification compliance.
Maintain supplier pricing records and identify potential cost-saving alternatives for review.
Estimating Documentation & Analysis
Organize bid files, takeoffs, vendor quotes and supporting documentation.
Track bid invitations, due dates, submissions and results.
Help update estimating databases and historical cost information.
Participate in internal estimate reviews and pre-bid meetings as needed.
Qualifications
Required
1–3 years of experience in electrical construction, estimating or a related field.
Basic knowledge of commercial electrical systems, materials and installation methods.
Ability to read electrical drawings, blueprints and specifications.
Familiarity with the NEC and basic construction terminology.
Strong mathematics, Excel, organization and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines and learn new estimating tools.
Preferred
Experience with ConEst, Accubid, McCormick or similar software.
Electrical field experience, technical coursework or construction education.
Experience with material takeoffs, public works or prevailing wage bidding.
