What you'll do
- Process laboratory specimens pre-analytic and post-analytic
- Label specimens, deliver them to laboratory sections, centrifuge and rack as appropriate
- Prepare and package send-out samples and packing lists
- Manage pending lists as instructed
- Answer phone inquiries and print and distribute patient reports
- Maintain printers, terminals and bar code readers
What you need

In this role, you will perform the duties necessary in the processing of laboratory specimens (pre-analytic) and handling of specimens post-testing (post-analytic) for which NYS SED licensure is not required. This includes the registration of non-inpatients, entry of orders into the laboratory computer, labeling of specimens with computer labels, delivery of specimens to laboratory section, centrifuging and racking as appropriate, and general clerical support of laboratory functions. Responsible for send-out process duties: preparation and packaging of samples and packing list, management of pending lists as instructed. Answers phone inquiries. Prints and distributes patient reports as instructed. Maintains computer hardware, such as printers, terminals and bar code readers.
This is a part-time day shift position 8:00am-4:00pm including rotating weekends and holidays, and coverage every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, located at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
Required Criteria:
High School Diploma or GED
Six months of laboratory experience
Computer literacy
