Maintenance Plumbing Technician

JOB SUMMARY This position performs skilled plumbing maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting work on City facilities under the supervision of the Assistant Construction Manager. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Special Requirements: Master Plumber License preferred and 10 years of plumbing experience. The ability to receive a BPAT license and Customer Service Inspections for new and existing services. Must possess a valid Texas class "C" driver's license or higher. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of computer software and programs. Ability to adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions. Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, or sit for long periods of time. Ability to lift weights of 50 pounds alone and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Ability to climb in and out of confined areas and have the ability to climb heights greater than 100 feet. Ability to install, maintain, repair, and replace water supply, sanitary waste, vent, fixture, and related plumbing systems according to plans, codes, and specifications. Ability to diagnose plumbing system problems, leaks, stoppages, pressure issues, fixture failures, and other plumbing deficiencies in City facilities. Ability to provide and maintain temporary plumbing and water service needs for City events and facilities when required. Ability to communicate with vendors, management, contractors and the public in a professional manner. Ability to understand and enforce City of Conroe and Departmental policies and procedures. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to obtain certifications/licenses to perform work assignments. Ability to make decisions in the absence of Superintendent. Ability to respond at any hour during an emergency when requested. Ability to work as many hours needed to get the work assigned completed. Ability to understand engineer drawings. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work is heavy and requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally with assistance, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, visual acuity, and walking.
