Internship Summary The Maynard E. Orme Internship is a paid internship role at OPB. The chosen candidate serves a 10 week term, full-time, during the Spring academic term as a Production Assistant. This role is only open to current University of Oregon, School of Journalism and Communication students OR recent graduates of the program (graduates of the Fall 2025 semester or more recent). What You'll Do The Maynard E. Orme Intern works in the OPB news room on audio journalism and digital content, and will complete a major project involving production and reporting. The intern will work to support OPB's award-winning newsroom journalists, and will have the opportunity to receive mentorship, exposure to a professional newsroom environment, and work on meaningful news-related projects.  Work Conditions * Work environment: Most work is done in office, studio or other indoor location. The work may require occasional travel to remote locations, possibly during inclement weather. * Schedule: General schedule is a choice of 10am-6:30pm to better overlap with the hiring manager (Evening News Editor) or 9am-5:30pm to better overlap with the majority of the newsroom. This role typically works Monday-Friday. Some weekend, evening, or earlier morning work may be required to cover news events.  * Physical demands: Moving equipment up to 20 pounds is sometimes required. Extended periods of sitting or standing may be necessary. * Travel: Regional and state travel occasionally necessary to cover news events.  * Driving: Driver's license is not required, but it is encouraged. Eligibility * This internship is only open to current students OR recent graduates of the University of Oregon, School of Journalism and Communication (graduation in Fall of 2025 or later). * An academic transcript is required as part of the application materials. Additional Information * This position reports to the Evening News Editor. * The pay rate for this nonexempt position is $19.23 per hour and is not benefits eligible. * Starts: June 2027.
