Salary Range: $19.64 - $26.10
Starting salary for this position is: $19.64 (Hourly)Employees hired at the
entry step of this range receive salary step advancement after six months and
every 12 months thereafter. An employee hired at anything higher than the entry
step of the range will have salary step advancement after 12 months and every 12
months thereafter until they reach the top of the salary range. Each salary step
advancement will be approximately a 5% increase.

Spokane Community College, part of Spokane Colleges, serves 15,000 students with
career technical, liberal arts, and adult education programs in Spokane and
surrounding rural communities.

ABOUT THE OFFICE ASSISTANT 3 (PERMANENT CLASSIFIED PAID HOURLY)
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness,
Research & Planning, the Office Assistant supports institutional effectiveness,
research, planning, accreditation, assessment, and related organizational
initiatives. This position assists with projects, maintaining records and
documentation, preparing reports and presentations, and supporting operational
activities as assigned. This position is fully remote. Work assignments vary
based on departmental priorities and may involve collaboration with personnel
across Spokane Colleges.
This is a permanent classified paid hourly position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide project-based administrative and clerical support for institutional
effectiveness, research, planning, accreditation, and assessment activities.
* Prepare, format, and edit reports, presentations, meeting materials, and
other documents.
* Maintain electronic and physical files, records, project documentation, and
departmental reference materials.
* Support data collection activities by organizing information, entering data,
verifying records, and preparing materials for analysis and reporting.
* Support the preparation and maintenance of compliance, accreditation,
planning, and assessment documentation.
* Participate in training and professional development activities related to
assigned duties.
* Maintain confidentiality of sensitive institutional, employee, student, and
research-related information.
* Assist with surveys, assessments, accreditation activities, and other
projects as assigned.
* Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions. *
* Support and advance Spokane Colleges’ strategic plan and perform other duties
as assigned. *

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Knowledge of basic administrative procedures and/or office practices.
* Ability to prepare coherent and meaningful reports; write clearly and
effectively with attention to details.
* Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word, as
well as databases and electronic records management systems.
* Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to assemble and edit documents in Adobe Acrobat.
* Ability to multi-task while paying attention to details and meeting strict
deadlines.
* Ability to take initiative.
* Ability to work independently in the absence of the supervisor.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Certificate or degree in Office Administration or a related field.
* One year of clerical or office experience.
* Experience assembling and editing documents using Adobe Acrobat.
* Experience working in a higher education setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* This position is fully remote. Employees must maintain a suitable remote work
environment and comply with Spokane Colleges' remote work requirements.
* Work is sedentary.
* Frequent use of computers and exposure to terminal screens.
* Frequent repetitive hand/wrist motions and finger manipulation.
* Work directly with students/clients.
* Frequent oral and auditory communication with others.
* Occasional kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
* Move up to 25 lbs. occasionally. Team lifts are encouraged and to be used at
the employee’s discretion.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
* Permanent classified paid hourly position.
* Work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.
* This position is overtime eligible.
* 6-month probationary period.
* Criminal background check is required.
* This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement. Membership
is optional.
Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S.
Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an
absolute condition of employment. An offer of employment will not carry with it

visa. In addition, the Spokane Colleges maintain a drug-free work environment

Medical, dental, life and long term disability insurance benefits are provided
as currently administered under Public Employees Benefits Board; WA State
Retirement Plan; vacation and sick leave begin to accrue at the rate of 11.33
hours vacation and 8 hours sick leave per month, upon employment. (For positions
that are less than full time, leave accruals will be prorated to the percentage
of the position.) This position is designated a bargaining unit position and
union membership is not a condition of employment. Leave accruals and usage are
governed by the WFSE collective bargaining agreement.
