About the company

Westward Seafoods Inc.
Fisheries · 501 to 1,000 employees
Westward Seafoods, Inc. has been a leading provider of premium Sustainable Alaska seafood since 1991. Over the years, the company has expanded its partnerships while maintaining a strong commitment to the sustainability of fisheries in Alaska and around the world. Through state-of-the-art processing facilities and participation in the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)—an independent, global nonprofit organization—Westward Seafoods remains dedicated to responsible sourcing and delivering the highest-quality seafood products.
Westward Seafoods operates three facilities in Dutch Harbor:
Captains Bay Plant: Specializing in Alaska pollock, as well as cod, halibut, black cod, king crab, snow crab (opilio), and Dungeness crab.
Alyeska Plant: Specializing in Alaska pollock production. Alyeska Seafoods, Inc., originally formed in 1985 and incorporated in 1986, merged with Westward Seafoods, Inc. in January 2025.
Northern Victor: A stationary processing plant dedicated to Alaska pollock. In February 2022, Westward Seafoods became the principal owner of the Northern Victor, which is permanently moored in Dutch Harbor.
In March 2026, the parent company, formerly known as Maruha Nichiro, introduced its new name, Umios. Combining “umi” (ocean), “one,” and “solutions,” the name reflects a unified commitment to working alongside stakeholders, society, and the planet to deliver meaningful solutions through food. Westward Seafoods is proud to be part of this evolving global organization.
Today, Westward Seafoods, Inc. continues to be a leader in Alaska’s seafood industry. As consumer demand for healthy, sustainable nutrition grows, the company is well positioned for the future—driven by innovation, responsibility, and a deep respect for the oceans.
