Columbus Specialty Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire a full-time Respiratory Therapist (RT) to provide optimal respiratory care for our long-term acute care patients. Our night shift Respiratory Therapists work 12 hour shifts (7:00pm - 7:30am) and receive night and weekend shift differentials. Full time Respiratory Therapists (RTs) earn a competitive wage of $30-$36/hour based on experience. POSITION SUMMARY The Respiratory Therapist performs quality patient care as a member of the Respiratory Team, providing intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed and with minimal supervision. This position does involve direct patient care for a population of patients between the ages of 18 and older and does require age specific experience, specialized training and/or expertise to serve this population. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 67-100% of work time: Standing/walking, lifting requirements 2- 10 pounds 34-66% of work time: Lifting requirements 11- 20 pounds 1-33% of work time: Sitting, twisting, lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing, bending/stooping, using arm/leg/back muscles frequently or for extended periods, lifting requirements 21-30 pounds QUALIFICATIONS Degree in respiratory therapy from an accredited program or college. Current NJ state Respiratory Care Practitioner license. Current RRT or CRT by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 2 months of hire from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Strong Knowledge of pulmonary function and pulmonary rehabilitation and experience with respiratory equipment required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
