Real Estate Property Accountant

Henssler Property Management is looking for a Property Accountant to support our portfolio of single-family and multifamily properties. Why you’ll like this role Breadth of experience: You’ll work across the full real estate accounting cycle: owner distributions, bank reconciliations, cash reports, financial statements, fund tax returns, and audit work. Few early-career roles give you this much range. Real client interaction: You’ll meet with property owners every month, so your work is seen and valued, not hidden in a back office. Be the go-to expert: You’ll be the Appfolio and Yardi resource for our property managers, which builds skills that are in demand across the real estate industry. What you’ll do Process single-family and multifamily owner distributions Meet with property owners monthly Complete single-family and multifamily bank reconciliations Manage single-family receivables (scan to bank) Support property managers in Appfolio and Yardi Prepare multifamily cash reports Prepare and review multifamily financial statements Assist with real estate fund tax returns and audit work Take on additional projects as the team grows What we offer Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life and disability insurance 401(k) with company match Paid holidays and paid time off Paid parental leave Requirements What you bring A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field 1-3 years of accounting experience Strong command of debits and credits, journal entries, and general ledger accounting The ability to prepare and review financial statements Clear written and verbal communication, including presenting numbers in a way others understand A customer-service mindset: you respond promptly, keep your commitments, and stay calm in difficult conversations Discretion with confidential information Self-motivation, critical thinking, and strong organization Bonus points (not required) Property accounting experience Familiarity with Thomson Reuters accounting software, Appfolio, or Yardi Voyager
