The Lundquist Institute is an independent nonprofit biomedical research institute where scientists and clinicians turn patient-informed discoveries into treatments, technologies, and training that reach people in Los Angeles and around the world. Its bedside-to-bench-to-bedside model connects the health challenges experienced by patients and communities with scientific discovery, and translates those insights into new approaches to prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care. That model is strengthened by a longstanding partnership with Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, a Level I trauma center serving the diverse communities of South Los Angeles. More than 150 principal investigators, many of whom hold faculty appointments at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, lead over 600 active studies at the Institute, with more than 150 clinical trials conducted each year. Their work has contributed to more than 300 patents and dozens of spinout companies, within a research ecosystem that includes a co-located BioLabs incubator.
