Clinical Lab Accessioner Job Summary: Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (MDL), a member of Genesis Biotechnology Group, is a CLIA certified clinical laboratory with multiple state licensing, specializing in state of the art, automated DNA based molecular analysis of a variety of chronic and infectious illnesses. MDL specializes and performs Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) with a larger menu of testing available in the field of infectious disease. Our main theme of research is in the field of Gynecology, Infectious Diseases, Infectious Arthritis, Tick-borne Diseases, Mycology, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). Essential Functions: Unpack FedEx Specimen deliveries Properly count/compare the courier & field service technician specimens to route sheets Correctly identify all necessary information on a test requisition form Match information on the test requisition with information on the collection vial for accuracy Identify correct documentation and procedures for missing or discrepant information Demonstrate proper use of dMDL Properly collate all paperwork received with specimen including requisition, checks, credit card forms, insurance card copies and prescriptions Demonstrate proper use of MDL test codes and panels Properly accession multiple types of specimen including blood, urine, swabs, CSF, synovial fluid, ticks, biopsies, etc. Properly take pictures of outside specimen vial/container for QC purposes Properly print labels and number of requisitions with the corresponding specimens Demonstrate proper use of scanning systems Properly sort and prepare all paperwork for scanning Properly sort samples in ascending order, as well as set up samples according to an XG sheet Properly locate a sample requested by the clinical lab, quality control, or the SRC department Complete any paperwork that should come down from QC/SRC Archive and file all paperwork in order to distribute to the appropriate bins/boxes Demonstrate proper use of a Sample Scan 96 Properly print labels for plates, preparing them to be scanned Properly take temperatures of the clinical lab Additional Responsibilities: Assist Lab Manager and/or shift coordinator in all daily activities or additional duties as delegated. Performs other similar or related duties as required or assigned. Assures activities are conducted in a safe manner and materials are handled according to safety guidelines. Assures customer privacy is maintained at all times. Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities. Assures information is delivered in a manner that is supportive, timely and understandable. Initiative is demonstrated to proactively diagnose and resolve problems. Productive work habits are consistently displayed. Accuracy and quality are maintained for all activities.
