About the company

Ayar Labs

Computer Hardware Manufacturing · 51 to 200 employees

Ayar Labs is transforming AI infrastructure by accelerating data movement. Recognizing that the complexity and size of AI models are increasing at a rate that traditional interconnect technology cannot handle, the company has developed the industry’s first co-packaged optics (CPO) solution that enables customers to maximize the compute efficiency and performance of growing AI infrastructure, while reducing costs, latency and power consumption. Based on open standards and optimized for both AI training and inference, Ayar Labs’ optical I/O solution is backed by a robust ecosystem that enables it to integrate smoothly into AI systems at scale.

Intern, Link Modeling/Architecture - Statistical Analysis & Modeling Term: May to August 2027 Please note: * Position location is on-site in San Jose Office * There is no immigration (except F1) or relocation support for this position * Posting expires upon application threshold  Position Description Ayar Labs, the global leader in optical I/O chiplets, is harnessing silicon photonics to revolutionize the scaling of AI compute hardware. Ayar Labs is shattering AI data bottlenecks by moving data at the speed of light. As pioneers of co-packaged optics (CPO), we are using light instead of electricity to move data faster, further, and with a fraction of the energy needed to fuel the explosive growth of AI models. Backed by industry giants like NVIDIA, AMD and Intel and manufactured in partnership with the world’s leading semiconductor ecosystem, Ayar Labs’ co-packaged optics solution is key to unleashing next-generation AI scale-up architectures.  We are looking for motivated undergraduate or graduate interns to join our Link Architecture team, where you will develop statistical device models and system simulations that bridge the gap between simulation and measurement. In this role, you will collaborate with design and test teams to correlate device measurements to device models and system level simulations. Projects are tailored to your experience and interests, and you will be mentored by a senior engineer as you work alongside with Ayar Labs engineers to help drive the optical I/O revolution. Intern Skillset Needed * Strong understanding of optical and/or semiconductor physics. * Demonstrated experience in statistical data analysis and processing large datasets. * Strong programming skills in Python; familiarity with data analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy) is required. * The ideal candidate is an independent and highly-motivated student who is able to work collaboratively and independently, and can self-manage time effectively to take projects to completion.  Education Requirements * Candidate should be actively pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. degree in Photonics, Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.   Pay Range: $50 - 60/hourly, depending on education level NOTE TO RECRUITERS: Principals only. We are not accepting resumes from recruiters for this position. Remuneration for recruiting activities is only applicable subject to a signed and executed agreement between the parties. Please don’t send candidates to Ayar Labs, and do not contact our managers.
