Description
The Associate, Royalty Management, supports a small team of Royalty Managers
responsible for the accurate and timely preparation, analysis, review, and
issuance of royalty statements to authors, agents, and other contractual parties
for the Macmillan US Trade division. In addition, the role will collaborate
extensively with various departments within the organization, as well as
external parties, to ensure transparency, accuracy, and trust in royalty-related
operations. This is a developmental role within Royalty Operations, well suited
to someone building a foundation in royalties and statement preparation ahead of
progressing into a full Royalty Manager role. There are 2 openings for this
role.
What you’ll do:
* Assist Senior Royalty Manager and other Royalty Managers with royalty
period-end and statement preparation
* Assist with ensuring accuracy of royalty terms in Biblio royalty system
* Assist with the review of banking and tax forms
* Assist with the processing of payee changes
* Assist with the pulling of sales information and other research
* Assist with clearing any errors or exceptions, including data cleanup
* Assist with editing and creating manual statements
* Collaborate with Author Care team to respond and resolve internal and
external royalty inquiries
* Assist in payment process:
* Assist Royalty Ops Analyst with review of payment registers and reports
* Assist with the preparation of payment requests, as needed
* Provide additional support to the Sr. Royalty Manager as needed
What you’ll bring:
* Detail-oriented, process-oriented, and exercise good judgment
* Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to
prioritize and manage a steady volume of detailed, deadline-driven work
* Clear written and verbal communication skills
* Good working knowledge of, or strong aptitude for learning, royalty contract
terms and processes
* Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a
team environment
* Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, databases, and
system queries.

Ideal Experience/Education:
* 1–2 years of experience in royalty operations, publishing, or a related
accounting/finance role
* Book publishing experience a plus
* Familiarity with Biblio or a similar royalty platform a plus
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent
experience
Salary range: $60,000 - $65,000
FSLA status: Non-Exempt
This position is classified as remote but is tied to our New York, NY office
located at 120 Broadway. Employment is subject to New York State tax withholding
under applicable regulations.
